Uganda
A compact, easily accessible savanna park southwest of Kampala — Uganda’s best place for zebra, eland and walking safaris.
Lake Mburo is Uganda’s most accessible savanna park from Kampala and Entebbe, and its compact size and relatively open terrain make it one of the few places in the country where walking and horseback safaris are routinely offered alongside standard game drives. It holds species found in few other Ugandan parks — plains zebra, eland and a dedicated impala sanctuary — alongside a chain of five interconnected lakes that support hippo, crocodile and a long list of waterbirds, including the elusive African finfoot. Because it sits roughly halfway along the main road between Kampala and the gorilla-trekking parks of the southwest, Lake Mburo works naturally as a one- or two-night stop to break up a longer journey, adding savanna game viewing to an itinerary otherwise focused on forest primates.
Immerse yourself in a curated collection of experiences designed to connect you deeply with the spirit of the region. From adrenaline-fueled adventures to quiet moments of discovery, explore the diverse ways to tailor your journey.
