Tanzania
A compact, scenic park beneath Mount Meru — one of the few in Tanzania where walking safaris and canoeing are part of the standard circuit.
Often overlooked in favour of the northern circuit’s bigger names, Arusha National Park packs crater lakes, montane forest, open grassland and Tanzania’s second-highest peak into an area small enough to explore properly in a day. The Momella Lakes, a string of shallow alkaline crater lakes, draw flamingos and other waterbirds and can be explored by canoe — a rarity on an East African safari. Because the park has few large predators, it’s one of the small number in Tanzania where walking safaris with an armed ranger are routinely permitted, putting visitors on foot among giraffe, buffalo and black-and-white colobus monkeys in a way vehicle-only parks don’t allow. Mount Meru itself, at 4,566 metres, offers a serious multi-day trek through forest, heath and volcanic scree to a summit that rivals Kilimanjaro’s views — and is increasingly used as an acclimatisation climb before attempting its taller neighbour.
Immerse yourself in a curated collection of experiences designed to connect you deeply with the spirit of the region. From adrenaline-fueled adventures to quiet moments of discovery, explore the diverse ways to tailor your journey.
