This safari takes you to Lake Manyara National Park which hosts tree-climbing lions then proceed to Ngorongoro crater with the largest unflooded and unbroken caldera in the world. Our final destination will be Tarangire National Park which gets its name from the Tarangire River that crosses the park.

What to Expect

Lake Manyara is known for its large troops of baboons. These highly social animals are a joy to observe as they interact with each other. Watch young ones learn the ropes of life while older animals battle for a spot higher up the hierarchical ladder. You will also expect to see elephants roaming in the acacia woodlands and evergreen forests fed by high groundwater levels, rich in bird life such as the pink flamingoes, pelicans, and many more other species.
Heading to Tarangire, you will note that the park is dotted with Africa’s iconic baobab trees. Like the scraggy fingers of a bony hand, they break through the soil and give the park a mystical aura during spectacular sunsets. They are home to birds and bees and are popular among the many elephants of Tarangire. Elephants quench their thirst on the baobab’s bark and wood that soaks up moisture like a sponge during the dry season, you will have ample opportunities to see wildlife, while driving along the banks of the swamp. Elephants, zebras, wildebeest and giraffe mix with the famous tree climbing lions of Tarangire.
To Ngorongoro conservation area its simply not easy to grasp the idea of a big hole in the ground being home to thousands and thousands of wild animals. But this is exactly what it is.

Itinerary

Day 1

Arusha – Tarangire National Park After your breakfast in Arusha you will begin your journey to the unique Tarangire National Park, home to more African Elephants per square kilometer than anywhere else on earth. Standing in the park surrounded by a landscape unchanged for hundreds of thousands of years, you will begin to appreciate one of the world’s last untouched areas of natural beauty. The main attractions of Tarangire include the magnificent ancient Baobab trees and the wildlife migration of June to August, which see wildebeest and zebra follow the rains to greener pastures. You will later have your Lunch served in picnic style. A short afternoon game before your dinner and overnight at lodge of your choice. Destination: Tarangire National Park Travel Time: 2 to 3 hrs. Day 2

Tarangire National Park-Lake Manyara National Park-Ngorongoro conservation area Early Morning after breakfast you will depart your lodge and head for Lake Manyara National Park to continue your safari. Lake Manyara lies in the Great Rift Valley and is, one of the most beautiful places in Africa. Dramatically bordered by lush green vegetation, upon entering the park you will become captivated by large troops of baboons and blue monkeys swinging from the trees. Further down, the forest opens up into woodlands, grassland, and swamps, beyond which sits the soda lake itself. Home to 350 species of birds including the flamingos, pelicans, sacred ibises, grebes and storks – it’s easy to see Lake Manyara is commonly referred to as “the bird watcher’s paradise”. The most famous spectacle in the park is the tree climbing lions who spend most of their days lazily relaxing along the branches of acacia trees 6 – 8 metres above the ground. The park is also noted for its numerous buffalos, elephants, giraffes, impalas, hippos and a number of smaller animals, which can all be seen in a single day. In this park canoeing has recently been added to the tourist activities in this park at extra cost. After a picnic lunch, you will continue your afternoon game- drive to see as much wildlife as possible. You will depart the park around late in the afternoon and head to your lodge perched on the rim of the crater to witness a magnificent sunset and enjoy a relaxing evening. Day 3

Ngorongoro Conservation Area – Arusha Wake up early morning for breakfast then at 0730hours start your game drive of the day in Ngorongoro. Descend into the Crater floor (19.2 km of diameter, 610m deep, 304 sq km) for wildlife viewing. The crater is home to Black Rhino, Elephants, Zebras, Wildebeests, Buffalos, Impalas and so many other Antelopes. Approximately 25,000 millions of different animals. Carnivores are pride of Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Hyena and other small cats. Your lunch will be served on the picnic site at Ngoitoktok swamp a Hippo pool, after lunch proceeds with afternoon game viewing while ascending the Crater and in the late afternoon driver back to Arusha or Moshi.
